Top Ten Books I Had to Buy, But Go Unread

This weeks top ten, hosted by the Broke and the Bookish, is the top ten books we had to buy.  These books still remain on our shelves unread.

I am pretty proud of myself that I couldn’t come up with ten books.  I try really hard to only buy books that I will read.  I just don’t have the extra money to buy that many books.  I supplement a lot by going to the library.

1. Divergent by Veronica Roth

This was one I bought on my Kindle and have yet to read.  I have no excuses, other than I just haven’t read it.

2. Anna Dressed in Blood by Kendare Blake

I bought Anna Dressed in Blood right around Halloween last year.  I was excited about getting it, but now I feel like I should wait till this coming Halloween.

3. The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo by Stieg Larson

This one I grabbed when I saw it at a second hand store.  I was really pumped to read it based on all the hype and I thought it would be good to read it before the movie.  After awhile I just thought maybe later and it has been pushed off to the side.  I know people have said it is hard to get into and I think I just need to be in the right mind set for it.

4. The Sixes by Kate White

I picked this one up because I love Kate White’s Bailey Weggins series.  I read another stand alone book by her and I was just so-so on it.  For that reason, this one has gone unread.

5. Across the Universe by Beth Revis

This was another one I purchased on my Kindle close to the time when it was released.  I don’t know why I haven’t read it yet.  I know the series is complete and I still have yet to read this one.

6. Change of Heart by Jodi Picoult

I went through a time when I read a whole bunch of Jodi Picoult’s books.  I think I burnt myself out on her books and have since left this one on my shelf.

That is it for this week.  What books did you buy and then leave unread?

Yes Yes I cannot afford all these books either. Does that stop me? NO! I wish it did. I wish I could just tell myself: No Angelique, you do not need that book. You are not going to read it. Don’t buy it. And then I walk out with it and probably a few other stowaways too.

    • It is stuggle when I go in bookstores. There are just so many books that I want to have. If anyone could hear my inner monologe they would probably laugh. I see a book I want and it is “I should get that book, no I have enough books already, I should really check the library, I really want it though, but you have enough books, just no”.

Haha I have something similar going on within my head.
And I just about always win.
BUT I do have a price limit. I only ever buy freshly released books if I have been waiting for them for a REALLY long time. Other wise I always look for second hand books or books on special.

  2. I read Across the Universe and although it seemed a bit slow it was pretty good. I found a copy of book #3 in the Bailey Weggens books at a thrift store and, I was wondering since you’ve read them, should I wait till I read the first 2 or can I read them out of order?

    • I have read all of the current Bailey Weggins books so far. You definitely don’t need to read them in order. In fact, the first book is my least favorite. All of the mysteries are stand along mysteries. The only thing that will get a bit confusing is when she refuses to former boyfriends. Other than that, I don’t think it would be bad to read them out of order. They are light, fun reads.

  3. Divergent + Across the Universe = ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ I loved both of those books so much, they are crazy addictive and just so well-plotted! I definitely need to get on Anna Dressed in Blood — everyone seems to have loved it to pieces. Halloween sounds like the perfect time for that! 🙂

Thanks for sharing and happy reading, Amy!

    • I keep thinking I need to read Divergent and Across the Universe. Then other books come along and distract me. My sister said the other day about Divergent, “You still haven’t read that”.
