Books to Movies, Maybe

Top Ten Tuesday, hosted by the Broke and the Bookish, this week is the top ten books made into movies.  That would be a world in which people don’t butcher the books, and create some of the terrible movies we have live through.  That is a whole different list.

Cinder by Marissa Meyer – This is one of those books that reads like a movie.  I would love to see the characters of Cinder, Iko, and Prince Kai.  Plus, the queen would make one scary villain.

Dark Places by Gillian Flynn  – This one is listed as coming out in 2014 and has a cast.  That sounds promising.  The dark subject matter and graphic material will be hard to watch, but it is a really good book.

Delirium by Lauren OliverThe world of delirium would be interesting to see as a movie.  The society, the mindless non-love, and the invalids would be entertaining to watch.  Hopefully this will happen and not another false start.

The Twins of TribecaThis book would be fun to see adapted.  Who would play the twin studio heads?  I would find it interesting to see the over the top antics of the actors and actresses.  This could be the Devil Wears Prada for the film industry.

Just One Day by Gayle Forman –  The cross-country story would translate well to the big screen.

The Devil in the White City by Erik Larsen – There was buzz about this book awhile back, but since it has died down.  The serial killer in this book is so creepy and would be mighty scary on the big screen.

Ready Player One by Ernest Cline – This sci-fi book with all the 80’s pop culture references would make one crazy movie.  It is supposed to be in development.

Shadow and Bone by Leah Bardugo – Alina’s cool abilities, the Darkling as a villian, and the world of Shadow and Bone is awesome.  This one is listed as in development.

A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini – The Kite Runner is good, but this book is better.  This book needs to be made into a movie.  It says it is in development.

Twenties Girl by Sophie KinsellaI love the character of great-aunt Sadie.  If they do make another Sophie Kinsella book (oh I hope they do make more), please do not screw it up like they did Confessions of a Shopaholic.

    • Could be for sure. I could see them cutting a lot of the references or just interpreting the book all wrong. That is one book that I really hope it gets made and they DO NOT screw it up.
