Be Thankful

This week’s Top Ten Tuesday, hosted by the Broke and the Bookish, is the top ten things we are thankful for.  I could have made a whole list out of the things that are pretty constant for most people.  You know, we are thankful for my family, friends, health, etc…  I am going to try to make a list that is varied.  Mostly fun things, with a few serious things thrown in.

Goodreads I know Goodreads has gotten some flack lately.  However, I don’t know what I would do without it.  It keeps me organized and also reminds how many great books are out there.  I use the website all the time.

Avocado I could list a lot of different foods, but avocado has to be at the top of the list.  My life would be sad without avocado in it.

The Library I use the library so much.  Anyone on a tight budget has to find ways to stretch their dollar.  The library definitely does that for me.

Hulu and Netflix  I use both of these services in order to keep up on my current shows, and to discover shows I have missed.  I am a big television person and I love the convenience of these websites.

Authors  They are the reason that we are allowed to enjoy books like we do.  They put their heart and soul into a book for us to enjoy.  Sometimes we love those books and sometimes we don’t.  All the while the authors have to put up with our many opinions.

Starbucks I enjoy plain black coffee, but there is nothing like a Starbucks coffee drink.  It is a treat for me, something I can’t get often, but when I do it is pure enjoyment.

Warm, Fuzzy Socks We are in the midst of winter and I am loving my warm socks.

Health Insurance Ok, this is a more serious side, but I can’t not include it.  I went without insurance for a long time.  I was hired full-time and finally have health insurance.  A huge weight was lifted.

My Job  While I am at it, I might as well talk about my job.  I am very thankful for my job.

Coconut Oil, Jojoba Oil, and Tea Tree Oil  These three things are so useful.  I am always on the hunt for products that will work, then I remember these three items.  They do a lot.

Bonus thankful things:

Etsy

Youtube

Coffee Mugs

Scarves

Ok, I will stop now.

What are you thankful for?

Not Enough Time in the Day

This post has been a long time coming.  I didn’t mean to be away for so long, but then I just was.
First off my job has been pretty hectic.  I didn’t talk much about the position I accepted in the fall, but I am the librarian at two elementary schools.  Most days I feel like I don’t have time at all.  I am always fighting to try to get ahead.   It is just not happening.  Plus, this is my first year as a librarian and I want to do a really fantastic job.  That is the first thing I want to talk about.  Hopefully with the holidays coming, time off, and more experience it will slow down a bit.

That is the first thing, the next thing is something I am not sure how to say.  It is something I am not even sure how I feel about.  Needless to say I have my end of the year reading pretty much planned out.  Not so much that I can’t change a book out or two, but I kind of have things in mind that I want to read.  I don’t know why it is hard for me to change, but it is.  The thing is, I feel pressure to read more children’s literature.  Most of the pressure is not from people at work.  I just can’t change what it is that I have planned.  I am just not wired that way.  As the new year approaches it is easier for me to plan to read more children’s books.  Is that strange or what?  Do you have to wrap your mind around changes to your reading plans?

I have also been having a hard time getting into the books that I am reading.  It took me all the way until the middle of the month to even finish one book.  I don’t know what that is about, but I am happy that I have finished the two that I started this month.  Hopefully that will give me a boost.

The other big news I have is that I am planning on attending BEA.  I have purchased airfare and have my hotel all booked up.  I have never been, to BEA that is.  I am beyond excited and can’t wait as more information comes out from Book Expo America.  I have badgered  invited my sister and aunt to join me to New York.  I know it will be such a fun time.  Any one else planning a trip to Book Expo this year?

I have a few posts that I am hoping to get out in the next few days.  One of them is all about library book sales.  I don’t even want to say how long I have been meaning to post that one!
